The technology, data, testing, limitations, and account questions a careful visitor should be able to answer before trusting the tool.

It applies weather conditions to a stated activity, location, setting, and date. Instead of stopping at a temperature and rain percentage, it produces a weather-fit score, a preferred time window when the data supports one, and an explanation of the conditions and tradeoffs.

For United States locations, Family Weather uses National Weather Service observations and forecasts when available. Additional worldwide forecast data supports locations and calendar-aligned daily views outside that coverage. The result identifies whether it used a live forecast or historical context.

The current decision spine is deterministic software, not an unbounded chatbot. It classifies the activity and evaluates relevant conditions such as precipitation, temperature, wind, daylight, timing, and setting. That makes the answer repeatable and testable. Natural-language intelligence may be added where it can improve explanation without hiding the underlying weather facts.

Automated tests exercise the decision engine across activity types and weather combinations, including poor late-day recommendations when a comfortable morning exists. The site is also production-built and route-checked before release. Testing reduces errors; it cannot guarantee that every recommendation fits every person's health, equipment, schedule, or risk tolerance.

For a date outside the useful forecast range, Family Weather compares the same calendar date across five previous years at the selected place. That can reveal a pattern worth planning around, but it is not a forecast and does not predict the selected future date.

Daily high and low values summarize the whole day. A useful window also depends on hourly timing, rain, wind, daylight, and the activity. When most of the day is suitable, the explanation should say so instead of presenting one narrow window as the only good choice.

Do not rely on it as your emergency-warning service. Check official National Weather Service alerts, local emergency management, park or venue authorities, road agencies, and evacuation instructions. Weather far upstream or outside the immediate search point can still create serious local danger.

No account is required to check an activity, today's weather, or historical weather. An account is required when you save events, invitations, and RSVP information.

You can stop with the weather answer, or create an event, choose or upload invitation artwork, share the invitation link, and manage replies. The invitation workflow is optional; an ordinary weather check never has to become an event.

No. Forecasts change, observations can be delayed, and personal circumstances differ. Family Weather provides planning context and explains its reasoning; the final decision remains with the person making the plan.
